N14 Brake Pads Replacement

Previous Page

Step Eight - Insert the new pads between the outer shims. This can be a bit difficult, especially the ones at the back. Replace the shims on the front and back pads.

Step Nine - Slip the calliper back in to place, replace the bolts and tighten. Replace the wheel and do the other side. Easy!

Once both sides are done, lower the car, start the engine and pump the brake pedal a couple of times until it becomes firm. Check the fluid level and top up if required. Don't forget to bed you pads in. Follow this procedure:

Accelerate to 40kph and lightly apply the brake until the car decreases speed to 20kph. Do this twice. Accelerate to 60kph and lightly apply the brake until the car reaches 20kph. Repeat also. Accelerate to 80kph (watch that speed limit) and apply the brake a little harder than before until a speed of 20kph is reached. Repeat also.

Try to avoid any hard braking on new pads for a couple of days, so the can find there seats and get settled, and so you don't damage your pad.
