N14 Pulsar SSS Wheel Alignment Settings
Okay, since doing the engine swap the car has handled like poo on a stick.
Took it in this morning for a full alignment. Below is all my settings:
Some of you may know that I'm very fussy about my alignment settings. Let me
tell you this... A good alignment will totally transform the way your pulsar
handles. These settings for for my N14. I've had excellent results with my
old settings, these are simular, but slightly more aggressive than before.
I've also just ordered a Whiteline sports pack which usually consists of
select coils and KYB damper inserts (they used to do Konis but now KYB due
to cost). All to replace my factory and shitty dampers/coils. This kit is $1500~ fitted, roughly. I've just ordered this kit but using the Koni
dampers not KYB, and all up inc fitting its costing me $1375. In order for
this set-up to be fitted the fitter needs to remove your old dampers, cut them open, gut them out and use them as housings for the new
Koni "inserts".. A good old cut and shut job.
Settings on the car when I took it in (not good)
Rear Camber:
LHS: -0d 52' (1 deg) (as set last time aligned)
RHS: -1d 13' (1 deg) (as set last time aligned)
Rear Toe:
LHS: - 0.3mm (0 toe) (was set to 1mm toe in last time)
RHS: - 0.2mm (0 toe) (was set to 1mm toe in last time)
Total Rear Toe: - 0.6mm
Front Castor:
LHS: +3d 11' (3 deg, as set last time)
RHS: +3d 03' (3 deg, as set last time)
Front Camber:
LHS: -0d 34' (bad 0deg? should be 1.5deg)
RHS: -0d 44' (bad 0deg? should be 1.5deg)
Front Toe:
LHS: -5.3mm
RHS: -5.3mm
Total front toe: -10.7mm (very bad should be 0mm toe)
New settings (as per set-up today. I've corrected the problems and also gone
more aggressive.)
Rear Camber:
LHS: -2d 02' (2 deg) (1deg more than last time)
RHS: -1d 57' (2 deg) (1 deg more)
Rear Toe:
LHS: - 1.0mm (1 toe OUT) (was set to 1mm toe IN last time)
RHS: - 0.7mm (1 toe OUT) (was set to 1mm toe IN last time)
Total Rear Toe: - 1.7mm (hmmm print out shows neg, should be pos.
Wonder if I actually got the toe out that I asked for, will confirm it.. toe in is
safer at high speeds, toe out is better for extreme cornering but hairy at
high speeds under brakes)
Front Castor:
LHS: +2d 59' (3 deg, as set last time)
RHS: +2d 44' (3 deg, as set last time)
Front Camber:
LHS: -2d 08' (2deg, was 1.5 last time)
RHS: -2d 04' (2deg, was1.5 last time)
Front Toe:
LHS: +0.0mm
RHS: +0.1mm
Total front toe: +0.1mm (0)
I'll see how it all goes next time I race :)
Cheers, James
